The Great Tree is an arcade game developed by Reflexive Entertainment. The game is set in a fantasy setting. When you first enter the game, you are given a lengthy but thorough explanation of the game world and the challenges ahead. Seems that you are a Wren, a fairy-type creatures that live in The Great Tree. However, the Tree needs magic pollen to survive, and the ancient pollen collectors, the Swee, have fallen into a spell possibly made by the Ixies, evil creatures that were related to the Wren. So you take the role of a Wren pollen collector. You use your mouse to move around and collect pollen (that is floating around) on your pony tail, and then depositing it in a "star" that carries it to the tree. However, there are several mutant insects that get on your way and you must maneuver around them. There are nice power-ups by pickup up pollen or saving an enslaved Swee. At the end of the levels, you get the chance to add attribute points to your character, as well as receiving new pair of wings with special powers. The game is very addictive and challenging, and if you add this to the great presentation and storyline the game has, it all combines to make an excellent game. Very recommendable. |
